The St. Lucia Wetland Park has a variety of nocturnal animal life such as these bush babies which are very curious creatures, often to be seen in the immediate surroundings.
These 2 hour boat safaris allow for close up viewing of the rich bird as well as animal life found in & around Lake St.Lucia. A photographers dream. Often massive flocks of flamingos are seen. Trips are scheduled 3-4 times a day.
The Hluhluwe & Umfolozi game reserve can be day tripped in your own vehicle or explored with professional tour companies. From St. Lucia it is appr. 35 minutes drive to the closest entry gate.

Many visitors are astounded at the magnitude of activities offered in the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park. It is not uncommon for tourists to stay 5 -7 nights in the area. This is not the place for a 1 or 2 night Japanese tour!!

Sunrise over the warm Indian Ocean. Walk along golden unspoilt beaches & look for whales close to shore. St. Lucia village offers 2 swimming beaches as well as the popular Cape Vidal beach where one can sunbathe, swim & snorkel. The tip here is to plan a full day to Cape Vidal, exploring the eastern shores with a lovely view point overlooking Lake St. Lucia, the wetlands & the Indian Ocean.
DO NOT swim near the Estuary mouth where it meets the Ocean - these waters are crocodile infested.
Witness the seasonal miracle of these giant Leatherback & Loggerhead turtles nesting on the beaches of St.Lucia, Cape Vidal & Sodwana Bay. These night tours are seasonal between Novemeber - January for nesting & February & March for hatchlings.

Relatively inexpensive rides can be booked ranging from 2 hours & more. Animals in the wild feel comfortable around horses which result in getting close up much safer & easier than in a vehicle or on foot.
Seasonal whale watching from June - November is extremely popular due to the fact that St. Lucia waters record the highest boat based whale sightings in the entire south African coastline. Whales are known to favour mating in the waters of St. Lucia coatline which flows from the warm Mozambique current past these shores.
St. Lucia in South Africa has a sub-tropical climate with an avearge of 300 sun filled days a year. Surprisingly some of the most beautiful months to visit St. Lucia is February, March, May & June with regards to comfortable average temperatures.
